INTRODUCING
Ian White

“Local government is the backbone of our democratic system. It's the level of government that has the greatest impact on peoples' everyday lives.”

– Ian White

Ian White is a retired primary school teacher and former Deputy Mayor of Pittwater.

He was first elected to Pittwater Council in 2008, serving twice and then one term on the new Northern Beaches Council (including being on the Northern Beaches Council Advisory Group).

During his time on NBC he fought to redress the infrastructure backlog in the Pittwater Ward and to combat the unnecessary destruction of the tree canopy of the Northern Beaches as a result of the State government’s 10/50 tree clearance legislation.

Ian has served as the Chair of the Built Environment Committee and was instrumental in the development of ‘The Northern Beaches Affordable Housing Policy’. He served as rotational chair of the Northern Beaches Bush Fire Management Committee for 11 years.

He has always been passionate about preserving the unique bush and beach environment in Pittwater and is an avid supporter of the local art community, including supporting the installation of public art on the Northern Beaches Coastal walk.

Ian has been a member of the Rural Fire Service for more than 28 years and is an ambulance volunteer.

You can regularly meet with Ian and his much loved boxer Freyja at the Bayview Dog Park.
